The IUCN Green List Programme is seeking new members to join the IUCN Green List Panel – the expert body responsible for deciding which protected and conserved areas meet the requirements of the IUCN Green List Standard.
The Panel considers nominations for site listings following comprehensive assessment, technical review, and process review, based on recommendations from Expert Assessment Groups for the Green List (EAGLs) in each country or jurisdiction where the Green List Standard is applied.
Currently chaired by Mrs Darlene Upton of Parks Canada, the Panel is a geographically and culturally diverse group of experts recognized for their deep knowledge of nature conservation and protected and conserved areas governance and management. Panel members deliberate on recommendations to ensure the highest integrity of Green-Listed sites, maintaining impartiality and declaring any conflicts of interest.
Green-Listed sites meet the IUCN Green List Standard across four components: Good Governance, Sound Design and Planning, Effective Management, and Successful Conservation Outcomes.
We are seeking nominations to fill vacancies on the Panel. Preference will be given to candidates from Africa and West Asia, and those who represent the interests of Indigenous Peoples and/or Local Communities.
